Unveiled on August 17, 1920, this cenotaph honours five members of the local community who passed away in the First World War: Walter Bush, William R. Davy, Herbert Blanchflower, James Hutchison and Harry Smooth. Walter Bush, a survivor of the Battle of Vimy Ridge, later died when struck by enemy artillery. Wilton Cheese Factory

Since 1867, the Wilton Cheese Factory has been a hub of cheese production. In 1921, a farmers’ co-operative took over, ramping up production to 226,800 kilograms (500,000 pounds) annually. In 1978, Arne M. Jensen purchased the factory, where they still continue the old-world curing process. This limestone hall was originally the Wilton Wesleyan Methodist Church. It was built in the 1840s in what was then a thriving farming and mill community. This church was built after Old St. Mary's at Pinhey's Point was deemed structurally unsafe. Many of the pews and other interior fixtures are from the former church. Old St Mary's was the first Anglican church in the Ottawa diocese and is the oldest church in the Ottawa area. Of note are the stained-glass windows and the lovely wooden interior.

In 1978, Ottawa’s mayor recommended establishing a municipal arts centre, arts council, arts festival and a permanent art collection for the city. This building initially served as the Carleton County Court House, purpose-built in 1870-71. It was slated for demolition in 1980, but it was saved by the city and turned into the Arts Court. It officially opened in 1988.
