Founded in 1935, the congregation purchased a building at Simcoe and Bloor Streets, serving as both Church and Parish Hall. Following construction of this Temple in 1949, the original building was transformed into the Parish Hall, later named Odesa Hall.  A new, accessible hall was added to the building in 2020.

The congregation has its roots tracing back to the earliest settlements in Eastern Ontario, with connections to John Bethune. First worshiping in a log structure, they then moved to a larger clapboard one. This third church, built in 1889 (architect S.A. The congregation (established in 1852) worshipped in a frame church erected in 1851 just west of the present church. The original structure was moved to the Tugwell Farm, where it still stands. The limestone for the current church was cut and prepared by inmates of the Kingston Penitentiary. The cornerstone of the present sanctuary was laid in 1883.

The Parish of St. Thomas was established in Belleville in 1818 when the first church was consecrated by Charles Stewart, the second Lord Bishop of Quebec. The first St. Thomas' Church was a brick structure completed in the 1820s. It is now a traditional Norman-style church, joined to a modern, glass-enveloped Parish Centre.
