The 1883 Acton Town Hall is an example of a Victorian Italianate style building. It provided a town council chamber, offices for the mayor, clerk, fire department and town constable, plus two jail cells. The 2010 Citizens Hall addition provided accessibility and a heritage display area. This gathering place, in the centre of Acton, is a splendid example of revitalization.

Hidden away in the park district of Georgetown you will find a log cabin. This little gem was built circa 1843 in Chinguacousy Township, but was moved to its current location in 1917 to serve as the clubhouse for the Georgetown Lawn Bowling Club. It is still being actively used to this day. A great example of adaptive reuse.

The Walkerton Clean Water Centre (WCWC) is an agency of the Government of Ontario, established to help safeguard water resources. They coordinate and deliver education and training for water-system owners, operators, operating authorities and First Nations communities. This art gallery, located in the historical 1880s Fenelon Falls train station, has been showcasing the diverse talents of local artists since 2005. Come and take a look through the bay window that the station agent used to see up and down the rail line. After stepping into the past, you can browse through the diverse and high-quality artwork.

St. Peter's Anglican Church and cemetery once served the busy hamlet of Bury's Green. This small country church sits in the rolling farmland north of Fenelon Falls. Now privately owned and no longer operating, it is a unique opportunity to see inside this architectural gem and learn about the local families who worshipped here.

Built in 1887 as St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, this is now home to All Nations Church and is used by the Carleton Place Town Singers for performances. Constructed of limestone in the Scottish baronial style, the fanciful towers and turrets add interest to this imposing structure. Contrasting decorative courses and window and door details are constructed of dark Beckwith limestone.

Completed at a cost of about $26,000, Carleton Place Town Hall is a local landmark. Constructed of limestone, the town hall once housed a fire hall, police station, jail cells and library. Its elaborate exterior is complemented by an equally fine interior. Come and view the foyer's grand staircase, the council chambers, clerk’s office and the second-floor opera hall.

The 1898 Keyes Block was constructed to replace an earlier building destroyed by fire. Now home to Granary Natural Foods, the storefront windows retain their original copper mullions. The upper apartments feature Tudor-style arched windows, original woodwork and a unique glassed ventilation shaft. Owner Mark will be available to discuss the building’s history. Note: Apartments are only accessible by stairs.

This log building originally sat at the north end of Moore Street. Built by James Pearson Moore in c. 1873, a grocery store and confectionary shop operated here by the Moore family until 1973 when the building was donated to the town. It was moved to this location in 2007. It now is home to the town’s Tourism Information offices.

This building, designed by Thomas Fuller (architect of Ottawa’s Peace Tower and many post offices throughout Canada), was constructed of red sandstone atop a limestone foundation. It served as the post office/customs house until 1970 and has been converted into offices and apartments. During Doors Open, the main floor offices will be open. Ask about the clock, added in 1913.

Meyers Creek Brewing took possession of this building in the fall of 2018. Over the course of the next five years — through the pandemic — they slowly peeled back the layers of renovations, ultimately uncovering the original 1884 brick building and its rich history. This beautiful space is now their taproom, with additions housing the brewery production business.

Come and explore Bath's history. Since its construction, this building has served as a town hall, courthouse, municipal office, auction house, concert hall, Royal Canadian Legion hall and sports venue. Discover exhibits showcasing pre-colonial times to the Second World War, including First Nations archaeology, artifacts and war memorabilia. Special activities and a guest speaker will celebrate the historical downtown buildings.

From 1883 to 1976, the Neilson Store provided Amherst Islanders with their basic necessities. After it closed in 1976, there were many changes in ownership until the building, newly renovated dock and grounds were sold to Loyalist Township to become the Neilson Store Museum and Cultural Centre. Come and learn more about the history of the store — and Amherst Island.

Topsy Farms is a popular tourist destination offering hiking trails, farmyard activities, events, workshops and classes. During Doors Open, explore the farm and property with some fun activities. Hike through a 6-km (3-mile) forest trail, immerse yourself in the organic garden, skip stones at the beach, visit with farm animals and enjoy a scavenger hunt made just for kids.

The Markham Heritage Estates is one of Markham’s most innovative heritage conservation initiatives and Canada’s first heritage subdivision. It offers a home for Markham’s threatened heritage dwellings that cannot be retained on their original sites. Buildings are relocated and restored by private individuals with staff guidance, on lots obtained from the city at reduced market rates. Prepare to be amazed!
