In the 1840s, the original farm on this site was divided in half and sold, with the east half bought by Thomas Fenby Boynton. In 1875, the Boynton family built the current brick house to replace an original log home. Today, Boynton House is a community art exhibition space. Come and view the artwork of Alexander Mackenzie High School students.

This historical guild hall was moved here in 1978. Showcasing one-of-a-kind handcrafted items by guild members and local artisans, this site is a hub for artistic endeavours — with workshops, meetings, sales and exhibitions. Enjoy fibre arts and pottery demonstrations, and try your hand at weaving. Operated by the Burr House Spinners and Weavers Guild and the Hill Potters’ Guild.

Circling Hawk Honey & Mead is the only commercial meadery in Richmond Hill. Built and operated as an equestrian farm until 2010, the site became mostly agricultural as a secondary use. Today, they grow tender fruits and keep honeybees to make cheesecake and honey wines. Tour the bee yard, fruit orchards, horse stable and winery while enjoying entertainment.

The Richland Academy is a participating site in the Richmond Hill Studio Tour. It features award-winning artist and art teacher Josephine Sherman. Guests are invited to explore nature in its many forms and seasons through her watercolour paintings. Sherman will be set up with painting materials for viewers to witness her creative process firsthand.

The Richmond Hill Artifact Collections Storage Centre houses thousands of historical artifacts in its climate-controlled facility. Much of the collection — generously donated by local families — dates back over a century. Take a behind-the-scenes look at the collections and learn how they catalogue, preserve and maintain the artifacts. Members of the Richmond Hill Historical Society will be in attendance.

The Richmond Hill David Dunlap Observatory is a national historic site, designated under the Ontario Heritage Act. Opened in 1935, it was at the forefront of Canadian astronomical research, housing the then-largest telescope in Canada. Today, it is a facility for public education and outreach through city-run programs and partnerships. Please register to tour the Observatory and Administration buildings.

The Richmond Hill Heritage Centre is housed in a restored 1840s Regency-style cottage — originally home to Amos Wright, the first Reeve of Markham Township. The Centre serves as a unique venue to showcase the rich heritage and history of Richmond Hill. Explore galleries and exhibits. The Richmond Hill Presbyterian Church, with its unique patterned bricks, was erected in 1880. The interior features Gothic-designed woodwork, original pews and beautiful stained-glass windows. Tour the building and cemetery and engage in a demonstration of the 1915 Cassavant pipe organ. And see artwork from featured artists narenhua, Roger Potts and Ziba Salehi-Rahni.

The Richmond Hill Sports Hall of Fame is located on the second floor of the Elgin Barrow Arena. It features exhibits and photos of local sports history. Here, they recognize athletes, teams, officials and sports builders who have helped shape Richmond Hill's sports community. Richmond Hill United has a congregation that dates back to 1810. The church building comprises the historical sanctuary and the former Christian Development Building, which was renamed "Village Commons." Built in the high Victorian Gothic revival style, this church features sharp edges and arches, stained-glass windows and a prominent three-tier steeple — the tallest in the city.

Participating in the Richmond Hill Studio Tour, this home studio features local artist Sylva Sroujian. Sroujian’s love of nature and its limitless beauty are the inspiration behind her paintings. Her love of colour blending — using oil, cold wax and acrylic — allows her to create landscape paintings in her own unique and lively style.

The Coptic Orthodox Church was founded by Mark the Evangelist in AD 43. St. Mary & St. Joseph has a distinctive history and boasts unique architectural features. Beautiful hand-painted murals, carved wood and imported Egyptian marble grace the church’s interior. During Doors Open, tour and learn about the culture and heritage of the Coptic (Egyptian) community in Richmond Hill.

St. Mary’s is the oldest church structure in Richmond Hill — and the city’s first Anglican parish. The historical building is now a chapel for the main church, built in 1964 in the Gothic-revival style. Take a guided tour of the chapel, indoor burial plot, church sanctuary and new stained-glass window that commemorates the church’s 150th anniversary.

Participating in the Richmond Hill Studio Tour, this home studio showcases the works of Laurel Douglas Shugarman and guest artist Claudia Galletta. Shugarman produces jewelry — rings, bracelets, pendants and earrings — in silver, gold, bronze and resin, along with prints and cards and two-dimensional art. Galletta produces ceramics, experimenting with various pottery techniques, motivated through her passion of wheel throwing.

Stoney Creek was first settled by United Empire Loyalists in 1786. It was the site of the Battle of Stoney Creek in 1813, part of the War of 1812, and Canada’s first Women's Institute. Join this walking tour and learn more about this historical community. Then stick around for some live music at the Titan Mortgage Group afterwards.

Learn about life in the late 19th century at the Oshawa Museum. Henry House was the family home of Thomas Henry, a local minister, farmer and harbourmaster. Built circa 1840, it showcases life in a traditional Victorian-era home. Museum staff will be on hand to talk about the family and answer questions. While you’re here, visit the Guy House, too.

With more than 90 retail stores, professional services, cafés and restaurants, Locke Street has become a popular Hamilton destination for locals and visitors alike. This guided walking tour, offered by the local business improvement association, will showcase just a few of the many sites that make this street so popular. Afterwards, enjoy live music on the street by local musicians.

The Waterdown Heritage Conservation District is a largely intact pre-Confederation and Victorian neighbourhood with a variety of building types and styles. Walking tours will be led by local historians. The beautiful stone façades of residences and old mills mix with later opulent Victorian masterpieces in brick. Most structures are still intact, and the main street has been developed tastefully.

This 1885-86 building in the heart of Dundas has been a foundry, indoor skating/curling rink, bus depot, warehouse and, since 2016, this brewery. The wood post-and-beam/brick masonry structure has been preserved yet modernized with the latest in craft beer equipment. The brewery focuses on German-style lagers with an emphasis on quality and authenticity.

Previously the Genosha Hotel, this designated building has an illustrious history. During the Second World War, James Bond creator Ian Fleming was a frequent visitor here. It also hosted several future CIA directors, including J. Edgar Hoover, before they were secretly sent overseas. Additionally, the Canadian rock band Rush performed here. The site has been redeveloped as luxury apartments.

The Ancaster Memorial Arts Centre is in the heart of Ancaster Village. It includes the 454-seat Peller Hall, Voortman Studio Theatre and multiple rooms for art, film, theatre and dance. This state-of-the-art centre will serve as home to many of Ancaster's successful and popular community arts groups. It will also provide a venue for many professional performers and artists.

Birmingham House is a typical stone Georgian Methodist church with round-headed windows, corner quoins, a central rose window and oversized eaves with paired cornice brackets. It is part of a cluster of buildings in downtown Waterdown that is largely intact after almost 200 years. The building is currently home to the CBY Academy of Performing Arts and Birmingham Consulting.

Originally constructed for the General Motors United Auto Workers Union Local 222, this site is now — following recent renovations — a thriving event centre. The unique venue provides multiple spaces, including the Mainstage music venue, TwoTwoTwo, the Local Lounge, Café and Snack|Bar. During Doors Open Oshawa, BOND|ST will be open for self-guided tours. And enjoy a live concert at 2 p.m.

The Canadian Automotive Museum was established in 1962 to promote the history of the automotive industry and tourism in the area. Currently, it is home to the world's most significant collection of Canadian vehicles. Located in a former 1920s auto dealership building across from Memorial Park, more than 70 vehicles are on display —including Lighting McQueen from Disney/Pixar’s Cars.

The beaux arts-style Carnegie Library in Dundas was built in 1910. When the Hamilton Public Library stopped using the building, its future was uncertain. Taking advantage of the thriving arts community, Dundas citizens formed the Carnegie Craft Carnival Committee to raise funds for necessary building maintenance. The Carnegie Gallery was subsequently developed and has been thriving for 40 years.
