This art gallery, located in the historical 1880s Fenelon Falls train station, has been showcasing the diverse talents of local artists since 2005. Come and take a look through the bay window that the station agent used to see up and down the rail line. After stepping into the past, you can browse through the diverse and high-quality artwork.

Erected as the first Carleton Place Town Hall, this imposing limestone building now houses the local museum, with exhibits chronicling the town’s history. Originally containing council chambers, a lock-up and public auditorium, it was converted into a four-room school in 1879 and served the community until 1969. Bring a picnic and enjoy the Community Labyrinth and Victoria School Gardens!

Completed at a cost of about $26,000, Carleton Place Town Hall is a local landmark. Constructed of limestone, the town hall once housed a fire hall, police station, jail cells and library. Its elaborate exterior is complemented by an equally fine interior. Come and view the foyer's grand staircase, the council chambers, clerk’s office and the second-floor opera hall.

This log building originally sat at the north end of Moore Street. Built by James Pearson Moore in c. 1873, a grocery store and confectionary shop operated here by the Moore family until 1973 when the building was donated to the town. It was moved to this location in 2007. It now is home to the town’s Tourism Information offices.

Sam Bat is the maker and originator of the best, professional, maple baseball bats in the world. Each bat is individually turned on a lathe using one of 300-plus templates. Then, they are hand-finished and carefully inspected to meet exacting standards. During Doors Open Carleton Place, enjoy a guided tour of the factory and visit the showroom and shop.

With its steep roofline, dramatic bell tower and buttressed stone walls, St. James Anglican is a local landmark. This stone church was built in 1884 to replace a smaller frame church. Inside is the 1903 church organ and an honour roll of members of the congregation who served in various wars. The lovely bells can be heard across town!

Meyers Creek Brewing took possession of this building in the fall of 2018. Over the course of the next five years — through the pandemic — they slowly peeled back the layers of renovations, ultimately uncovering the original 1884 brick building and its rich history. This beautiful space is now their taproom, with additions housing the brewery production business.

The Community Archives of Belleville and Hastings County opened in 2016. A collaborative project, it was built as a partnership between the City of Belleville, the County of Hastings and the Hastings County Historical Society. The archives preserve the history of the community through records of local governments, individuals, families, businesses and organizations.

Appleby United Church is celebrating 200 years in Burlington! Various buildings have served the congregation over the years, with this one being constructed in 1959. It includes a small chapel with artifacts from previous church sites — including a communion table, officers’ chairs and a stained-glass window. During Doors Open, explore the Wall of History and enjoy some refreshments!

Masjid Halton is a beacon of light for Burlington’s Muslim community. Established by the Halton Islamic Association, it was built through the community’s hard work and dedication as a primary centre for prayer, learning and recreation. It offers a variety of religious and educational services and is actively working on establishing a new Islamic Centre in a northern Burlington suburb.

When Irish settlers migrated to Amherst Island, they brought a unique way of building walls called dry stacking — layering stones without the use of mortar. This tradition has continued to this day. Although you can see beautiful displays of dry-stone stacking throughout the Island, visit Topsy Farms for an opportunity to speak to an actual dry stone waller!

Come and visit the Amherstview Fire Hall! The Emergency Services Department — formed in 1998 — protects 340 square kilometres (131 square miles) and 17,000 residents through four fire stations. Witness firefighters in action and explore the historical 1962 King Seagrave Pumper, which will be onsite during the event. Enjoy a rare opportunity to explore fire trucks and talk to the team.

From 1883 to 1976, the Neilson Store provided Amherst Islanders with their basic necessities. After it closed in 1976, there were many changes in ownership until the building, newly renovated dock and grounds were sold to Loyalist Township to become the Neilson Store Museum and Cultural Centre. Come and learn more about the history of the store — and Amherst Island.

St. John's was one of the first Anglican churches built in Upper Canada. It is the oldest one standing and in use in Ontario. Begun in 1793, the church was completed and used as a place of worship in 1794. Fire destroyed it in 1925 and it was rebuilt that same year, continuing to offer services to the present day.

Reverend James Peter Scanlon formed an Anglican congregation in the late 1950s. This congregation purchased land for a new church that was officially opened on May 1, 1959.
