Redpath Sugar began in Canada in 1854 and has been operating in Toronto since 1959. As one of the last industrial establishments in the Toronto Harbour, Redpath remains a vital part of the community. Explore the site, engage with employees, interact with historical artifacts and enjoy a treat or two along the way. Entrance will be through the Centre Gate.

Join us to experience a site where architecture, history and international perspectives unite to form a true community gathering space. Regis College (which comprises Christie Mansion and Fontbonne Hall) is part of the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Theology. During Doors Open, explore the ornate and well-preserved Victorian architecture, as well as speak with staff and watch a multimedia presentation.

Built in 1914 as a silent-picture theatre, this three-storey building has been revitalized into an environmentally sustainable hub that offers accessible programming and arts initiatives centred around marginalized BIPOC communities. Retaining the building's original heritage and charm, the restoration highlights exposed brick and wooden posts. Featured in this green building is a restaurant, rooftop garden, co-working areas and galleries/event spaces.

Rosedale United’s sanctuary, with its pointed arches and vaulted ceilings, draws the eye upward, creating a sense of height and grandeur. The vibrant stained-glass windows fill the space with ethereal light, enhancing its spiritual atmosphere. The sanctuary also has excellent acoustics, as demonstrated by their Casavant organ’s rich, resonant tones. Restored in 2005, the organ now boasts 2,637 pipes.

Scadding Cabin, Toronto's oldest surviving building, was built for John Scadding, John Graves Simcoe’s assistant. This one-room house was acquired by the York Pioneers in 1879 and rebuilt on its present site in time for the inauguration of the Toronto Industrial Exhibition (now the Canadian National Exhibition). This is recognized as the earliest act of architectural preservation in Toronto.

Archival records and photographs are on display at the Scarborough Archives. The archives contain documents, photographs, maps, cemetery records and a collection of local community histories. Located inside the former W.J. Morrish General Store, it is also the home of the Scarborough Historical Society, which helps to promote, preserve and stimulate an interest in the history of Scarborough.

Nestled in Thomson Park are four heritage buildings that comprise the Scarborough Museum. Hear stories, old and new, that have shaped the ever-changing community of Scarborough. Explore the McCowan Log House, Cornell House and the Hough Carriage Works. Learn how Scarborough developed from land farmed by Indigenous peoples and European settlers into a major suburb of North America's fourth-largest city.

The Scott Library, the main library for York's Keele Campus, is a five-storey brutalist structure that houses the Clara Thomas Archives & Special Collections, Media Creation Lab, Learning Commons, Adaptive Lab, Sound and Moving Image Library, Map Library, thousands of books, many works of visual art and more. Explore all five floors and learn more about the art/artists you discover.

The Second City is the largest improvisational comedy theatre and training centre in Canada. Its list of famous alumni includes John Candy, Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Martin Short, Dan Aykroyd, Andrea Martin and many others. In June, they celebrate 50 Years of Funny. Come and tour Spadina House and discover the home of the Austin family from 1866-1982. Period rooms contain furniture and decorative details from the 1920s and 1930s. Co-owned by the Ontario Heritage Trust and the City of Toronto, this site includes three floors, an orchard and the newly created Aki Wiidookaagewin "Ontario Earth Helpers" Indigenous kitchen garden. This site includes a temple that was constructed in the Chola temple architectural style of South India, with 12 sanctums housing different idols of Hindu gods. There is also a heritage museum consisting of 25 specially made marble murals carved in India that describe the teachings of the Hindu monk Shankaracharya who revived Hinduism about 1,000 years ago.

St. George's Hall is a Toronto landmark. Built in 1891 by the St. George's Society, the building has been home to the Arts & Letters Club of Toronto since 1920, a private club formed in 1908, a social club centred on the arts. Founding members include Group of Seven painters, Robertson Davies, Vincent Massey, Marshall McLuhan, Mavor Moore and others.

St. Andrew by-the-Lake Anglican Church is a lovely neo-Gothic wood-framed church surrounded by parkland and lagoons on Toronto Island. It holds services year-round on Sunday mornings. The building has beautiful acoustics and some stunning stained-glass windows. St. Andrew's is the last remaining church on Toronto Island and will celebrate its 142nd anniversary this year.

This church marks the place where Scarborough began. The first parcel of land, where their cemetery now stands, was severed from the farm of Scarborough's first European settlers, David and Mary Thompson. The congregation began in 1818, making it Scarborough’s oldest Christian congregation and Toronto’s oldest Presbyterian church. Visit the cemetery and sanctuary to learn about the church’s impact.

When St. Andrew's was built, its location at King and Simcoe streets was busy; most congregants lived within walking distance. Across the street stood Government House, the official residence of Ontario’s Lieutenant Governor. Upper Canada College stood on a second corner, and on a third was a popular tavern. The four corners became known as “legislation, education, damnation and salvation."

St. Barnabas is a site of architectural and ecclesiastical heritage and is one of the oldest Anglican parishes in Toronto. The current red brick building was built in phases between 1910 and 1925. Stained-glass windows and carved-oak woodwork dominate the interior. During Doors Open, the archivist and volunteers will answer questions while volunteer musicians showcase the church’s excellent acoustics.

A synagogue until 1937, St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church stands as a dynamic affirmation of the spiritual and artistic achievement of the Byzantine religious tradition. Except for its Romanesque façade and a few Moorish capitals, the renovated structure is now more thoroughly Byzantine in its layout and esthetic décor. The church interior has been entirely painted by master iconographers.

St. George's on-the-Hill has been a landmark in Etobicoke for 180 years. Built in 1847, the church building has undergone many renovations but still incorporates the original structure in the centre of its worship space. Highlights include many stained-glass windows (including the modern "Children of the Bible" window), a Casavant pipe organ, an 1865 font and the parish's small cemetery.

The Chapel of St. James-the-Less is a mid-19th-century Victorian Gothic revival funeral chapel that is picturesquely set atop a small, landscaped knoll just inside the main gates of Toronto’s St. James’ Cemetery. Designed by Cumberland and Storm, it was designated a National Historic Site in 1990. It is enhanced by its elevated position, surrounded by the peaceful cemetery.

St. Lawrence Hall was built in 1850 as a meeting place for public gatherings, concerts and exhibitions. Restored to its original grandeur in 1967, the Hall — with its three major rooms — continues to serve as a breathtaking venue for inspired special occasions. On Sunday during Doors Open, Opera Atelier — one of the building's tenants — will present brief classical performances.

St. Lawrence Market is a premier culinary destination, celebrating the best of Toronto's rich food and community heritage. The newly redeveloped North Building is the historical home of the Saturday Farmers’ Market — a cornerstone of the Market's heritage since 1803. The North Market also hosts a diverse range of events, a new café, the Toronto Court Services and multi-level parking.

St. Paul's Anglican Church (a.k.a. St. Paul's Bloor Street) is the world’s largest parish church building. It is filled with stained glass and plaques commemorating congregants who served in the First World War. A 2006 renovation connected existing buildings to host concerts, meetings, conferences and programming. Explore the sanctuary, take a tour and enjoy hourly organ recitals.

Built in 1955, this church is recognized as Canada’s first mid-century modern sacred structure. Constructed by Estonian refugees forced to leave Europe during the Second World War, the church maintains their social, linguistic and cultural ties. The 1972 addition and alterations were based on the original design. During Doors Open, enjoy organ concerts accompanied by a male choir.

Established in 1874, St. Thomas's Anglican Church was one of Canada’s earliest Anglo-Catholic parishes, known for its liturgical and musical traditions. The congregation moved into the present building in 1893. Architectural highlights include the hammerbeam roof, the stunning reredos with its hand-carved statues, the octagonal First World War baptistery and the magnificent stained-glass windows by England’s Bromsgrove Guild.
