CAMH is Canada's largest mental health teaching hospital and one of the world's leading research centres in its field. It offers outstanding clinical care to more than 38,000 patients a year, conducts groundbreaking research, provides expert training to health care professionals and scientists, develops innovative health promotion and prevention strategies and advocates on public policy issues with government.
A member of the West Queen West community, CAMH has a rich history dating back to 1850. In 2005, it launched a bold redevelopment project to build a new kind of hospital for the 21st century, to improve the patient experience and integrate with the community. Welcoming parks, extended streets, art installations and paths create access points for the public to engage with CAMH and, in doing so, challenge stigma and break down barriers for those living with mental illness.
