Houghton's Hotel and stables, was located here in 1870. A shoe factory opened in 1906, then a clothing factory and eventually a furniture factory starting in the late 1930s. In 1999, the Bethel Bible Church, purchased the 24,000 square foot structure after the closure of the Canadian Tire store in the 1980s, renovating and opening a new place of worship.
