The station was the 3rd train station to be built in Caledonia and it was completed in 1908. It carried passengers until 1957 when they retired the passenger trains and only carried freight. In 1996 the building was purchased and restored as CN railway. The station has been used as office space for the Caledonia Chamber of Commerce and various community events. However the current plan is to reopen the doors of Grand Trunk for the community to drop in, for the space to be rented more often, and to host events for those in our community. For Doors Open 2026, the Caledonia Grand Trunk Railroad Station reopens its doors for drop-ins to learn about local train history and invites the community to explore the station as an event and rental space. The museum currently hosts an historic water tower and a restored caboose train car that is being transformed into a museum exhibit displaying the massive restoration project that took place in 1996.
