Hogans’ Honey has been in operation by the same family since 1934. Current owners Ben and Nancy Hogan and their son Tim and his wife Kayleigh manage over 1,000 hives in 31 bee yards (nearly 50 million bees), generating an average of around 60 tons of honey annually! Come and watch the production process, explore the buildings and enjoy samples.

St. John's was one of the first Anglican churches built in Upper Canada. It is the oldest one standing and in use in Ontario. Begun in 1793, the church was completed and used as a place of worship in 1794. Fire destroyed it in 1925 and it was rebuilt that same year, continuing to offer services to the present day.

Located in the ByWard Market, this school is in a four-storey, three-bay stone building of solid appearance with a richly decorated principal façade. During Doors Open Ottawa, visitors can join school staff and students in the lobby as they celebrate the school’s 145th anniversary, or take a guided tour. Throughout the day, art and artifacts will be on display.

Applewood Farm has been a part of Stouffville’s agricultural community for 50 years. The site has been featured on the hit television shows Schitt’s Creek and The Littlest Hobo. Visitors are welcome to explore the play area, walk the farm, enjoy a wagon ride and learn about the upcoming crops and pick-your-own season.

Experience nature's gifts at the Bruce's Mill Conservation Park as you walk along the forest trails, zip your way through the high tree canopy, try your hand at disc golf, check out the BMX track, ask about their summer day camp options, and practise your swing on the driving range. The ByWard Market has been Lowertown’s focal point since 1848. This particular site has served as a market since 1875. The present building is the fifth to house the market. Home to food merchants, specialty boutiques and artisans operating in indoor and outdoor spaces, the ByWard Market Building is a landmark. For Doors Open, enjoy special tours, displays and presentations.

The Gladstone Theatre has been a theatre for over 40 years. Initially a garage, it was turned into a 230-seat theatre in 1983 by the Great Canadian Theatre Company, with further renovations in 2007. By 2016, it was regularly hosting 12 stylistically diverse theatre companies, with more than 27,000 tickets being sold per year. Come and explore this unique site!

The Herb Garden is pleased not only to celebrate 30 years as a small family-run business operating a greenhouse in rural Ottawa, but also a 200-year-old farm property and heritage barns. During Doors Open Ottawa, visitors can explore the historical barns and learn about the family business before checking out the trails, labyrinth and garden.

The Ingenium Centre houses Canada’s science and technology collection, with more than two million archival, trade literature and library materials, and more than 116,000 artifacts. The Centre provides a controlled environment to protect the artifacts for the benefit of generations to come, designed to properly house artifacts made of materials such as plastic, wood, paper, textiles and ivory.

Founded in 2019, the Ottawa Glassblowing Co-op is located in the heart of Ottawa near Little Italy. Their mandate is to foster a glassblowing co-operative that operates inclusively to support the artistic creativity, learning and growth of its members and to educate the public in the art of glass. Come and see glassblowing demos by local artists!

The Ottawa Little Theatre, founded in 1913, is Canada’s longest continuously running community theatre. During Doors Open Ottawa, visitors will receive a guided, behind-the-scenes tour from one of the theatre’s dedicated volunteers. The tour will reflect an actor’s experience from first rehearsal to opening night and feature the talented production team who support them on that journey.

Whitchurch-Stouffville has a deeply rooted political history. During Doors Open, come and visit the town hall and be among the first to see a new micro-exhibit that focuses on Stouffville reeves and mayors — political leaders who have helped shape the community over the years. While you’re here, check out the council chambers, too.

The Sweet Acres Pig Sanctuary rescues potbelly pigs and provides protection and a peaceful, safe and healthy life, often after being removed from terrible circumstances. During Doors Open, come and tour the site and learn about the sanctuary’s role in providing a safe and welcoming environment. Animal interactions will be available. You can also sponsor your favourite pig!

The York Region Police Community Safety Village is an interactive, educational facility where children can learn about fire, traffic and personal safety. The site features a 929-square-metre (10,000 square-foot) learning centre with police, paramedic and fire education. Visit the new human rights classroom. Explore the miniature village with working traffic lights and signals. Located within the Bruce’s Mill Conservation Area.

Canada’s second-oldest rowing club is also the birthplace of the Toronto Argonauts football team. Located along the waterfront trail’s western shores, the club offers programs to fit different needs, abilities and interests. Take a tour of the facility, explore the Trophy Room, enjoy a coffee in the Henley Room, and see some of the best views of Lake Ontario.

This former church was transformed into a Buddhist temple in 2005. The large meditation hall can host 180 people for classes and retreats. It contains a huge and stunning shrine with 16 beautiful Buddha statues. Explore the meditation halls, learn about the temple’s various community activities, view a slideshow of the building’s history or enjoy children’s activities. Complimentary refreshments available.

Come and explore the site through guided tours and discover the building’s history, learn about the community’s heritage and diversity, have your name written in Arabic calligraphy and enjoy delicious cultural foods and drinks.

This mental health charity turns an outdated candy factory into a modern, welcoming facility for teens and young adults to access mental health services. Understanding how the built environment influences health and well-being, the architect’s young design team worked directly with participants, counsellors and staff. Explore this site and see what architectural elements have been retained from the original structure.

The ZoomerPlex is a media, event and production complex in Liberty Village, and is home to blogTO, Daily Hive, The New Classical FM, Zoomer Radio, VisionTV and ONETV studios, and Zoomer magazine. Enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour, see how radio/television shows are made, meet the DJs, view Moses Znaimer’s famous collection of vintage televisions and radios, and catch a live-to-air concert.

Built by the family of the founder of the Eaton’s retail chain, this neo-Gothic church features a 30-metre (100-foot) bell tower that houses a 21-bell carillon. Explore the important collection of stained-glass windows, take a behind-the-scenes guided tour, hear the Casavant organ (see their recital schedule), view never-before-seen historical photos, and look up marriage records of relatives married here.

By 1899, the burgeoning Toronto Carpet Manufacturing Company Limited outgrew its original space and moved into this impressive new factory. The structures were built in the classic 19th-century style around a central quadrangle and powerhouse. During Doors Open, tenant suites (largely design studios) will be available to view, showing how the complex continues to provide spaces that inspire new ideas.

Youngplace is a community cultural hub in the West Queen West area whose spaces include artists’ studios, a public lounge, café and free public art galleries. Meet some of the tenants in their studios, participate in a material exchange, take a tour of the building and its creative spaces and see how this former schoolhouse has been restored and rejuvenated.

L.L. Contemporary is a participating site in the Richmond Hill Studio Tour. It will present Beverly Rosenberg’s solo exhibition Role Play. Through featured original paintings and drawings, L.L. Contemporary invites visitors to delve into human emotions, internal landscapes and relationship dynamics, as explored through Rosenberg’s art practice – challenging conventional notions of self-representation and societal roles by blurring reality and fiction.

The Richland Academy is a participating site in the Richmond Hill Studio Tour. It features award-winning artist and art teacher Josephine Sherman. Guests are invited to explore nature in its many forms and seasons through her watercolour paintings. Sherman will be set up with painting materials for viewers to witness her creative process firsthand.

Richmond Hill United has a congregation that dates back to 1810. The church building comprises the historical sanctuary and the former Christian Development Building, which was renamed "Village Commons." Built in the high Victorian Gothic revival style, this church features sharp edges and arches, stained-glass windows and a prominent three-tier steeple — the tallest in the city.
