Niagara-on-the-Lake

in-person event information

Saturday, October 22, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Niagara-on-the-Lake is in the heart of Niagara's wine, heritage and tourism industries. It has been an important home for Indigenous peoples, provided a safe haven for refugees, and was the first capital of Upper Canada. It was a military headquarters and battlefield during the War of 1812 with the entire town being burned in 1813. Niagara-on-the-Lake rebuilt itself following the war and has been visited by millions as a place of recreation for over 160 years.

Come and explore some of the historical and architectural gems that make Niagara-on-the-Lake such a unique community, from museums to breweries in historical buildings.

Before visiting, check for current COVID-19 protocols in Niagara here.

Clare's Harley-Davidson of Niagara

Throughout this store are architectural touches with reclaimed and re-purposed materials. Outside, a large water tower was relocated from Fort Erie to form the sign. Inside, reclaimed brick creates the industrial feel, along with wooden doors and reclaimed woodwork. Look for the vintage window in the sales office and a countertop in the ladies’ washroom from a local hotel.

St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church

The original 1794 church was burned by the American army during the War of 1812. A new church was later erected, but was also destroyed by a cyclone. In 1855, the current building was constructed. While major restorations have occurred over the years, the interior and exterior of this architectural gem appear much the same as the 1831 building.
