Aardvark Learning Academy is a tutoring centre for adults and children learning English, Math, French and Japanese. Our mission is to empower students to accelerate their dreams. While here, try your hand at Shodo (Japanese calligraphy), learn how to hold/move a brush and complete a masterpiece. Participants can come up with a word that they want to write or copy a prepared word.

Founded in 1949, the Barrie Art Club (BAC) is a non-profit organization run by dedicated volunteer members. For more than 75 years, our studio, gallery and workshops have welcomed both members and non-members, offering a creative space where people can learn, explore and connect through art. With nearly 250 members from across Canada, we foster inspiration, camaraderie and ongoing education.

The Barrie Fire and Emergency Service Headquarters is a modern facility that serves as Barrie’s central hub for fire operations, with administrative offices, training facilities and operational units. Designed with functionality and community engagement in mind, the headquarters features contemporary architecture and a museum. It also plays a key role in co-ordinating fire prevention, public safety education and emergency response.

The Barrie Mosque is the only masjid (Muslim place of worship) in Barrie. It has been the primary centre for prayer, learning and recreation for Barrie’s Muslim community since 1988. The Barrie Simcoe Emergency Services Campus became operational in March 2020. This modern facility houses the Barrie Police Service (in existence since 1853), the Simcoe County Paramedic Services and the Barrie Fire and Emergency Service backup dispatch communications — all in one location. During Doors Open, come and meet some of your community officers and tour some of the facilities.

This structure is one of the last buildings in Allandale’s old downtown and an example of a structure built to fit an irregular lot.

This not-for-profit creative hub offers services to support careers in the music industry. With a recording and livestream studio, they offer a range of programming and services to help emerging artists and professionals. Their successful food rescue program ensures there are no more starving artists. Come view and participate in many of the creative musical processes undertaken by the co-op's members.

This unusually shaped building was erected in 1888-89 as the headquarters of the 35th Battalion Simcoe Foresters. In 1914, it became auxiliary to the new Queen's Park armoury. The building has been revitalized by a committee of city council and is designated for architectural and historical significance under the Ontario Heritage Act. It is now the Grey and Simcoe Foresters Regimental Museum.

Barrie was forever changed by the 1869 arrival of one extraordinary family. Retrace the footsteps of architect Shearman Bird and his wife, Amy ‘Amoi’ Bird. The tour highlights significant places associated with the Bird family, such as private homes and grand architectural marvels, taking you through Barrie’s historical neighbourhoods and offering stunning views of Kempenfelt Bay.

Combining a renovated Carnegie library with a dynamic contemporary addition, the MacLaren Art Centre complex includes multiple galleries, an education centre, a garden patio, cafe, gift shop and framing department. The building is designated under the Ontario Heritage Act as a space of architectural and historical significance. Tours, arts activities and more will be available throughout the day.

Visit this former Grand Trunk Railway station, now General John Hayter Southshore Community Centre, to tour the grounds and adjacent Military Heritage Park (including Vimy Oaks, the Victoria Cross cenotaph and the new RCAF Memorial). A member from Heritage Barrie will answer questions and provide information. 10 a.m. to noon, see a Culture Days hands-on piping and snare drumming experience with Barrie Pipes and Drums! 

Founded in the mid 1980s, the church moved to its present location near West Bayfield School in 1995, consisting of a portable unit. The first phase of the building opened in April 1999. The final stage of construction will happen within the next five years, to include a nursery and Sunday school facilities as well as a banquet / meeting hall.

On a prominent hill overlooking the city of Barrie, Trinity Anglican Church has been present since 1835. The current sanctuary, built in 1864, features vaulted ceilings, elaborate wood carvings, historic plaques marking the lives of Barrie citizens and extraordinary stained-glass windows. This vibrant and beautiful building is still an active hub in the community and welcomes all.
