Christ Church Woodbridge (Anglican)

The original church was constructed in 1850-51 by William Tyrell, a well-known builder and the first Reeve of Weston. In 1856 trancepts and a chancel were added to the church. The parsonage was relocated by 1884. In 1878 a school room was added. In 1882 the church purchased a new Casavant organ. The original church burned down in 1921, and was reconstructed.

The Woodbridge Agricultural Society is in its 177th year. The Woodbridge Fairgrounds have several buildings, one of which stores an extensive collection of historical farm equipment: The John Abell Pioneer Building houses one of two remaining Abell steam engines, along with a thrasher and combine, and much more. Come get a glimpse into a futuristic past!

      Devlin House

      The Devlin and Cook families of Vaughan were early settlers from Ireland who came to the Township during the 1820’s and 1830’s. Both are known for their significant contributions to the history of the Township. Built by Henry Burton, a well-known local mason who built at least 50 farmhouses in Vaughan. Now its home to the Vaughan Soccer Club.

      The Cemetery Vault at the Maple Cemetery was constructed in 1882 for the purpose of maintaining the deceased bodies during the winter when the ground was too hard to dig. Such a structure was necessary since adequate machinery to dig through the winter frost was not readily available. It is designated under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act.

      Noble House (aka Beaverbrook House)

      In 1879, Sarah Noble’s grandson Maxwell Aitken was born in the manse of St. Andrew’s Site. In 1912, Aitken moved to England, and became the famous politician and newspaper magnate known as Lord Beaverbrook. In 1933, Dr. William S. Caldwell sold the property to Dr. Ray A. Bigford, who operated his medical practice in the house, and also resided on the premises.

        St. Paul's Presbyterian Church

        Officially founded in 1888, St. Paul's Presbyterian Church represents the Romanesque style. As early as 1842 arrangements were made for the minister of the Maple church to preach every third Sunday to the congregation of “Upper Corner”, later St. Paul’s Vaughan. Services were held in homes, with most people walking to the service and the minister arriving on horseback.

          Known as the William Armstrong House, this Gothic Revival style structure was built in the 1880s. The house passed through various owners; however, the most famous resident was artist William Armstrong who bought the house in 1968 and lived and painted there until 2000. He painted landscapes and still life and his paintings are part of the National Gallery of Canada

            Captain Nathaniel Wallce built the Wallace House in 1873, and today it is part of the Woodbridge Heritage Conservation District and is also an individually designated building.  Wallace was also responsible for building the Wallace Brothers Dominion Exchange, the Inkerman Hotel and houses for each of his grown sons and their families.

            Musée Collection McMichael d’art canadien

            Le musée Collection McMichael d’art canadien, situé sur 40 hectares (100 acres) de terrain forestier le long de la rivière Humber, est une importante galerie publique consacrée à la collection d’art canadien. Le musée McMichael occupe un emplacement unique sur l’historique Carrying Place Trail, sur les terres d’origine du peuple Ojibwe Anishinaabe. La collection permanente du McMichael consiste en plus de 6 500 œuvres d’art de Tom Thomson, du Groupe des sept et de leurs contemporains, ainsi que des artistes des Premières Nations, métis, inuits et contemporains qui ont contribué au patrimoine artistique canadien.
