The Kiever Synagogue began with the arrival of Ukrainian immigrants escaping Czarist Russia. This synagogue was built in 1927, featuring exterior twin-domed towers decorated with Stars of David. The interior is dominated by a hand-carved Torah ark, with paintings of animals and zodiac signs in the gallery. In 1979, it became the first building of Jewish significance to be designated.
