The Oro African Methodist Episcopal Church, built in 1846-49, is a designated National Historic Site and one of the oldest surviving Black churches in Canada, established by formerly enslaved settlers in the Oro Settlement. It stands as a significant symbol of Black heritage, faith and community in Ontario.
