    The United States has had an official diplomatic presence in Canada since 1827. Built in 1969, the current building creates a bridge between places, peoples and ideas. Symbolizing a bridge, the building stands for partnership and alliance. As a work of architecture, the magnificence of the building is indicative of the significant relationship that the United States has with Canada.

    The United States has had an official diplomatic presence in Canada since 1827. The original embassy, built in 1932, housed 17 people and was located at 100 Wellington Street. In 1969, planning began for a more modern and spacious chancery. The current embassy consolidates more than 10 embassy-related offices and houses over 200 people. With its design and function, the embassy building creates a bridge between places, peoples and ideas. Symbolizing a bridge, the building stands for partnership and alliance. As a work of architecture, the magnificence of the building is indicative of the significant relationship that the United States has with Canada.
