Founded in 1873, Beechwood Cemetery was designated a National Historic Site in 2001 because of its key role in Canadian heritage. Over 400 famous burials reside on the grounds – including politicians, writers and inventors. With over 82,000 burials of people from all walks of life, Beechwood serves as a place of national tribute and remembrance for all Canadians.
