The Simcoe County Archives – Ontario's first county archives – began in 1966. It remains the official repository for the permanent records of the Corporation of the County of Simcoe, its constituent municipalities and the City of Barrie. The Archives also collects records in any media that document the history of Simcoe County. Its earliest original record dates from 1540.
