Whitchurch-Stouffville has a deeply rooted political history. During Doors Open, come and visit the town hall and be among the first to see a new micro-exhibit that focuses on Stouffville reeves and mayors — political leaders who have helped shape the community over the years. The York Region Police Community Safety Village is an interactive, educational facility where children can learn about fire, traffic and personal safety. The site features a 929-square-metre (10,000 square-foot) learning centre with police, paramedic and fire education. Visit the new human rights classroom. Explore the miniature village with working traffic lights and signals. Located within the Bruce’s Mill Conservation Area.

Willowgrove offers programs to get kids and families outdoors, learning and growing together. Established in 1968, it was founded on the 40-hectare (100-acre) historical Groff Family farm. Since then, it has evolved into a day camp and education centre. Try your hand at bouldering in the repurposed century barn, enjoy a wagon ride, and partake in hands-on historical experiences.

Built as a home in 1905, this historical building was converted into Stouffville’s first eye clinic in 1979. Take a guided tour of the site to see how it has been transformed from a home to a medical office. Visit three stations that feature innovative technologies: Optomap, Topography and the Optical Lab. Tours will occur every 30 minutes.

Take a guided, behind-the-scenes tour of this award-winning facility and learn how indoor ice is made. Named after the Stouffville Clippers, this 7,339-square-metre (79,000-square-foot) facility features two National Hockey League-sized hockey pads (with seating for more than 325 spectators per pad), 12 change rooms and two multi-purpose rooms. Come and have your photo taken with the Zamboni!

Welcome to the Darul Khair Center. As Muslims began moving to the Stouffville area, community members felt the need for a place to pray and unite with the community. During Doors Open, explore the mosque and participate in interesting activities for the whole family. Learn about Islamic history, the role of Canadian Muslims, and enjoy provided snacks.

Experience nature's gifts at the Bruce's Mill Conservation Park as you walk along the forest trails, zip your way through the high tree canopy, try your hand at disc golf, check out the BMX track, ask about their summer day camp options, and practise your swing on the driving range. Applewood Farm has been a part of Stouffville’s agricultural community for 50 years. The site has been featured on the hit television shows Schitt’s Creek and The Littlest Hobo. Visitors are welcome to explore the play area, walk the farm, enjoy a wagon ride and learn about the upcoming crops and pick-your-own season.

The Sweet Acres Pig Sanctuary rescues potbelly pigs and provides protection and a peaceful, safe and healthy life, often after being removed from terrible circumstances. During Doors Open, come and tour the site and learn about the sanctuary’s role in providing a safe and welcoming environment. Animal interactions will be available. You can also sponsor your favourite pig!

The Lemonville School was constructed in 1923 as S.S. #9 and enlarged in 1959. The school closed in 1969, reopening as the Lemonville Community Centre in 1972. Today, the building serves as a rental space while maintaining its community roots. Explore the building’s past and chat with volunteers about the building’s fascinating history. In 1854, the first services of the Lemonville Methodist Church were held in a frame schoolhouse. In 1856, the original church building was constructed on the present site. During Doors Open, visit Lemonville United for refreshments, explore the historical graveyard, and speak to members of the congregation about the site’s social/architectural significance. History books will be available for purchase.

The Whitchurch-Stouffville Public Library traces its history back to 1877 when it was first established in Allan's Jewelry Store, then as the Mechanic's Institute, and finally as a free public library in 1899. Celebrate International Tabletop Games Day with a variety of board games to play. And enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at the library's Makerspace and make your own button.

The Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum & Community Centre has preserved the town's rich heritage since 1971. Be sure to check out new exhibits, including The York Regional Forest: A Growing Legacy and Standing in the Doorway: Lived Histories and Experiences of the Chinese Community. Visit the historical buildings, create a souvenir at the craft station and participate in Victorian lawn games!

The most popular Treetop Trekking location is tucked away in Bruce’s Mill Conservation Area. Situated in an old sugar shack, adventure activities for all ages dot the surrounding forest. During Doors Open, enjoy a guided tour of the park and historical building. See the outdoor zipline, aerial game trek, a kids’ discovery course and the UPLÅ (suspended outdoor trampoline park)!

Come and visit the Richmond Hill Live Steamers to experience miniature railway demonstrations. This outdoor model railway, run by hobbyists and engineers, features several gauges of trains running on steam, gasoline and electric power, based on real engines dating back to 1803. Limited rides may be available and are limited to one ride per person. Entry closes at 2 p.m.

The Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and Humane Society provides care, comfort and compassion to animals in need across the province. During Doors Open, join an educational tour of the Animal Centre, interact with animals, play games and learn to be animal smart. There will also be a vendor market.

Built in 1896, Nineteen on the Park is one of the oldest buildings along Stouffville’s Main Street. It has served as a meeting place, market, concert hall, bowling alley, silent film theatre, town hall and more! Enjoy a guided tour through the many eras of this beautiful building and take in its unique architecture.

Engage in a self-guided tour through the exhibition Like Heirlooms, which brings together three Chinese-Canadian artists at Stouffville's only public art gallery. These artworks use traditional and experimental materials like crystalized MSG and SCOBY to start the conversation about the Chinese diaspora and identity. During Doors Open, create your own masterpiece with a hands-on activity inspired by the exhibition.

The Jean-Baptiste Lainé Site was home to a remarkable late-16th-century ancestral Wendat community. Of all the sites in Southern Ontario that have been almost completely excavated, it is considered one of the largest and most complex. Explore and learn about this amazing archaeological site with self-guided tours and a staffed interpretation table.

Holy Theotokos is a Greek Orthodox convent that not only follows the traditional order but also manufactures pure beeswax candles. During Doors Open, visitors can tour the chapel and the candle factory to see how this property has changed and adapted over time. Don’t forget to stop by for lunch at the Greek souvlaki and pastry tent.

St. Thomas Christians can trace their origins to the arrival of St. Thomas on a lagoon in Malankara, India. Built in 2017, this 2,137-square-metre (23,000-square-foot) building contains a beautiful 750-seat sanctuary, seniors’ recreational room, youth room and spectacular chandeliers. Take a guided tour, browse exhibits to learn about faith, beliefs and rich cultural heritage, and stop by the food sale.

Celebrate 100 years of York Regional Forest at this innovative LEED platinum-certified building, which creates more energy than it uses. Functioning as the hub for York Region Forestry’s educational programming, this centre was built using local and recycled materials. Explore the 100th anniversary display and take a guided tour of the facility.
