Burr Lodge

Burr Lodge, a historical private residence in Whitby, was built in 1855 by James Wallace, the town’s second mayor. This charming heritage property reflects mid-19th-century architecture and offers a glimpse into Whitby’s early civic history. Wallace played a significant role in the town’s development and Burr Lodge stands as a lasting tribute to his legacy.

Lynde House is Durham Region's oldest home, and a stunning example of Georgian architecture. The Museum is operated by the Whitby Historical Society, whose costumed interpreters lead tours that tell the history of Whitby, Lynde family stories and life in 19th-century Whitby. Be sure to visit the Warren General Store to view the works of local artists.
