Tillsonburg is located on the traditional territories of Indigenous peoples and is covered by the Between the Lakes Treaty Number 3 of 1792. Tillsonburg would like to acknowledge that we are on the traditional land of the Anishinaabek, Haudenosaunee and Attawandaron peoples.

Ontario is home to diverse Indigenous peoples (First Nations, Métis and Inuit) and we recognize their role as stewards of the land. The Indigenous communities near Tillsonburg include: Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, Oneida Nation of The Thames, Munsee-Delaware Nation, Mississaugas of New Credit First Nation, and Six Nations of the Grand (which is made up of Mohawk, Cayuga, Seneca, Onondaga, Oneida and Tuscarora Nations).
