The building was constructed in 1925 and has been officially recognized as a designated cultural heritage property under the Ontario Heritage Act. During World War II, Ian Fleming, the creator of James Bond, was a frequent visitor to this location, which was previously known as the ‘Genosha Hotel’. It also hosted several future CIA directors, including J. Edgar Hoover, before they were secretly sent overseas. Additionally, the Canadian rock band Rush performed at this venue multiple times before the property renovations.
