Father Theophile Laboureau spearheaded the construction of St. Anne’s Church between 1885 and 1900. The three great bells were cast in France and carry the names of Canadian martyrs. In 1999, 15.8-metre (52-foot) steeples were added and a new rectory was built. St. Anne’s is a prominent structure, whether viewed from the harbour or from land.
