The goal of Hear, Here London is to share the diverse stories and voices of London neighbourhoods – SoHo, Great Talbot and Richmond Village. Hear, Here collects stories from historically underrepresented people to help make sense of London’s complicated and nuanced past. One of the many stories that you will hear is that of Margaret Henderson. Included in the Fugitive Slave Voices tour, Henderson’s struggle – fleeing slavery in the United States prior to the American Civil War and her ultimate resettling in London – is both powerful and fascinating. For the Doors Open London weekend, visitors can either listen online or take self-guided walking tours to hear the stories on their cell phones by using the free Driftscape app. As part of Digital Doors Open, explore the many stories available on the Hear, Here website.
