McIntyre Community Building Doors Open Timmins-Porcupine

McIntyre Community Building

The McIntyre Community Building was built in 1938 for employees of the McIntyre Porcupine Mines. The company’s president, J.P. Bickell, directed that the building be modelled as a smaller version of Maple Leaf Gardens. Facilities include an arena, ballroom, auditorium, curling club and coffee shop. The building has been under municipal management since 1968. Frank Mahovlich and Bill Barilko are just two of the sporting greats who got their start at the “Mac.” Exclusive to Digital Doors Open, you can explore the site within this spectacular 360-degree image (Photo: Andrew Warren – Digital Image).
