Ocean Wave Fire Company and Carleton Place Ontario Provincial Police Doors Open Carleton Place
In 1868, while testing the fire company’s new hand-pumper, an onlooker exclaimed at the arc of water, "Look at the ocean wave," inspiring the company's unusual name. The police force was disbanded in 2003 when the Ontario Provincial Police took over. Come and meet the local officers and see the historical artifacts on display – including a 1923 fire truck.
