Officially opened on September 30, 2014, The Advanced Research Complex is a research building at the University of Ottawa, dedicated to multidisciplinary work in Earth sciences, physics and engineering. Guests of Doors Open 2026 will be able to take part in hands-on demos for all ages, conversations with local researchers and laboratory tours.

Welcome to Annandale National Historic Site, one of Canada’s finest Victorian homes. Built in 1880 by Edwin Delevan Tillson, it showcases the esthetic movement style. Inside, visitors can explore hand-painted ceilings, intricate woodwork, stained-glass and richly decorated rooms, offering a glimpse into the Tillson family and the history of Tillsonburg.

Founded in London, Ontario in 1908, architects Tillmann Ruth Robinson Inc. expanded to Toronto in 2005. The Toronto studio is located in a late-19th-century former carriage works. The current exhibits on display were created by Friends of Second Marsh and visual art students at Maxwell Heights Secondary School. Among the church’s features are beautiful stained-glass windows, statues, iconography and a Casavant organ. Blowes Cards & Gifts occupies the historical Victorian Brandenberger Block, once home to the town’s first Festival Theatre box office and later a Loblaws grocery store. Original timber floors, decorative tin ceilings and a restored façade remain, and visitors can view the newly renovated upstairs — The Blowes Inn space — which showcases additional period details from its 19th-century origins.

Visit Borlak Law, operating from the circa 1895 home of William Todd, village carriage maker. Admire the architecture and some of the original stained-glass windows while learning about what the business offers today.

Learn about local train history and explore this station and museum, built in 1908, now an event and rental space. The museum hosts a historical water tower and a restored caboose train car that is being transformed into a museum exhibit that displays the massive restoration project that took place in 1996.

This former industrial site is now a 3,962 square-metre (13,000-square-foot) modernized museum featuring artifacts and displays honouring Canadian men and women who served, are serving and who did not return, focusing on Brantford, Brant County and Six Nations, from 1812 to Afghanistan. See also special displays commemorating Canadians in Hong Kong and Walls of Honour for area residents lost in war.

Dating back to the 1880s, the Canfield Cemetery is the final resting place for many community members and Black settlers. Explore the cemetery's rich history with self-guided tours to learn about the family names and stories of Black settlers who sought freedom in Canfield via the Underground Railroad.

This award-winning trail guides pedestrians and cyclists on a loop from the historical courthouse (built 1851) over the Canadian National bridge to King George Street and Maple Road, and back to the courthouse via Talbot Street East and Munsee Street North. See picturesque views of the river and learn about local natural and built heritage from the storyboards.

Explore Haldimand County's Black history with a guided tour of research and primary source documents in the archive. Enjoy a self-guided exploration of the gallery exhibition celebrating the Retired Women Teachers of Ontario. The building itself has several interesting design features, including chain waterspouts, standing rib metal roofing, and a "Big Bang" light by Foscarini.

The present school building opened in 1969, but the grand original was completed in 1876 with 16 classrooms. Built of local limestone on top of Catholic Hill, with a stunning roofline and impressive belfry, it made an impressive skyline for the city. The bell from the old school was preserved and mounted beside the entrance of the new school.

Explore Humber Polytechnic's Centre for Justice Leadership at Toronto’s Lakeshore Campus. This site showcases the latest technology-based learning for criminal investigation, justice leadership and conflict resolution. Hourly guided tours include lab spaces, a mock courtroom, the forensic studio and crime-scene lab. Then enjoy an interactive activity in the forensic lab. Arrive early and wait inside lecture room AN 101.

An example of High Victorian architecture, Century Manor was in operation as a hospital from 1884 to 1994. Indwell, a charity creating supportive housing communities, will preserve and transform this important heritage building into housing with 40 apartments and common areas.

This church features rough grey limestone and a massive battlemented tower. Today, in addition to regular worship services, it serves as a neighbourhood hub — hosting the Avenue Road Food Bank, meetings, community celebrations and musical performances. Not usually open to the public, the church invites visitors to explore its rich history and contemporary use through tours and special events/activities.

Rebuilt following a devastating fire, Knox Presbyterian remains a cornerstone of Stratford's spiritual and cultural life. Its magnificent stained-glass windows, including a stunning seven-panel installation, have been recently restored. While the congregation continues to worship here, the building is also being prepared for Copperlight, a new hospitality and arts venue. Return for a special ticketed dinner/concert Saturday evening (pre-booking required).
