The regiment is celebrating its 170th birthday. Many of the events of its history are the same ones that affected the City of London. We will have interpreters who will explain the displays and tell the stories of the regiment's history. Outside the Jeep Troop, members of the Regiment and the Cavalry Troop will have interactive displays. Enjoy musical performance!

Housed in a 1940s canteen, this is the last surviving building from London Airport's WWII British Commonwealth Air Training Plan base. The London Aviation Museum commemorates Canadian and Commonwealth airmen trained here. A scavenger hunt and a hands-on activity highlighting key pieces will be available for kids. Visitors can gently handle a WWII practice bomb and guess its weight. Enjoy musical performance!

Welcome to Annandale National Historic Site, one of Canada’s finest Victorian homes. Built in 1880 by Edwin Delevan Tillson, it showcases the esthetic movement style. Inside, visitors can explore hand-painted ceilings, intricate woodwork, stained-glass and richly decorated rooms, offering a glimpse into the Tillson family and the history of Tillsonburg.

The Army, Navy and Air Force Duke of Edinburgh Unit 201 is a local service club that has many activities for members and is open for everyone to enjoy. They have been an active organization since 1840 — and in this building since 1932. Come in during Doors Open Belleville and check out the club and its many activities.

The Battle of Chippawa, fought on July 5, 1814, was the opening engagement of the Niagara campaign of 1814 — the longest and bloodiest military operation of the War of 1812. Retrace the events of the Battle of Chippawa in a self-guided walking tour with storyboards of this preserved battlefield covering 121-hectates (300-acres). Niagara River Parkway at Edgworth Road.

Dating back to 1796, this home once belonged to the Gage family. While on site enjoy the Dunington Grubb landscape and the 13.8 hectares (34 acres) of meadows and forest that make up the property. Explore the contrast between the Tudor Gothic Revival Battlefield Monument and the artwork Eagles Among Us, symbols of peace and reconciliation.

The Billy Bishop Museum remains an Owen Sound landmark. Boyhood home of the eponymous First World War flying ace, this museum invites you to explore the Bishop family and to honour the contributions of service men and women, past and present. Dedicated as a museum in 1987, this site became a National Historic Site in 2002.

For the first time since taking possession of the Bishop's House in 2026, Glengarry Fencibles Trust can host guests with accessibility needs. Please note that because of the front lawn's rolling topography/stone retaining wall, the lift is accessed via the 4739 Frog Hollow Road entrance. There, guests will also find parking and a veranda that opens to the central hallway.

The Brantford Airport was established in 1939 as a Second World War flight training base. Currently, it is used for flight training, general aviation and aircraft maintenance. During Doors Open, visit the Flight Centre where club members will provide a guided tour of the airport and its history, and explain what is happening there today.

The Brockville Museum is housed in the historical Isaac Beecher House, built circa 1815 and expanded in the 1840s by tanner Isaac Beecher. It was designated a heritage property in 1979 and opened as a museum in 1981. Explore how the museum preserves and shares the history of the City of Brockville through its extensive artifact collection, exhibitions and public programming. 

This former industrial site is now a 3,962 square-metre (13,000-square-foot) modernized museum featuring artifacts and displays honouring Canadian men and women who served, are serving and who did not return, focusing on Brantford, Brant County and Six Nations, from 1812 to Afghanistan. See also special displays commemorating Canadians in Hong Kong and Walls of Honour for area residents lost in war.

This site is home to North America's largest collection of operational historical military vehicles and the museum of the Ontario Regiment (Royal Canadian Armoured Corps). The museum is located on the grounds of an original Second World War airfield. Rides in their M548 “Battle Bus” and M113 armoured personnel carriers will be available but at an additional cost.

The Clergue Blockhouse stands as a reminder of two important periods in Sault Ste. Marie's history. The blockhouse base contains exhibits and information on the fur trade (the base was originally the powder magazine). The top floor exhibit showcases the early industrialization of Sault Ste. Marie and the man behind it — Francis H. Clergue. Clergue lived on the top floor.

The Cornwall Armoury, home of the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Highlanders, is a historic military building completed in 1938. Designed in a Scottish Baronial style, it features a striking stone-and-brick façade concealing one of Canada’s largest drill halls. The armoury serves as a training centre, regimental headquarters and symbol of the region’s proud military heritage.

The Battle of Crysler’s Farm Battlefield Memorial Building was built to commemorate the battle that took place on November 11, 1813, as part of the War of 1812. Located at the bottom of a hill created with soil from the original battlefield, visitors will find the building full of artifacts, murals, and dioramas detailing the battle between British and American forces.

Cummington Square is an urban public park dating back to approximately 1800. It is centrally located in the former village of Chippawa. A large octagonal bandstand replicating the original 1920’s one and two war memorials occupy the square. Meet with Doors Open Ontario volunteers to learn about Chippawa and get information on the other Doors Open Niagara Falls sites.

The Diefenbunker is Canada’s most significant surviving Cold War artifact. It is an impressive four-storey underground facility that operated as the country’s central communications headquarters during the Cold War, ready at any moment in case of a nuclear attack. Now a museum, the Diefenbunker offers a one-of-a-kind experiential learning environment, coupled with award-winning programs, events and exhibitions. Registration is required.

The Aurora Legion invites the community to gather at the flagpole for a traditional Drumhead Service at Aurora Cemetery. This solemn ceremony, rooted in military tradition, uses a drum as a symbolic altar for remembrance and reflection. Following the service, attendees are welcome to the Aurora Legion Branch, located at 105 Industrial Parkway North, for light refreshments.

The Owen Sound Cenotaph (815 1st Avenue West): dedicated in 1920, serving as a memorial to all Canadian veterans. 

Located at Exhibition Place near Scadding Cabin, Fort Rouillé is marked with plaques, a cairn, an obelisk and the original fort’s outline. Built in 1749-50, the fort was abandoned in 1759. Come and explore signs of an Indigenous presence, an old French fort, a War of 1812 battleground and Toronto’s oldest house — all in one spot. Bilingual volunteers available.

At Fort Willow Conservation Area, nature and history come together. During the War of 1812, this fort was a supply depot that marked the half-way point between Kempenfelt Bay and the Nottawasaga River along the Nine Mile Portage. The site features scenic trails and open spaces where visitors can explore its historical importance. 

This 1930s art deco site was built primarily of materials from Quebec and France. Highlights include the Salon de l’hon. George W. Vari (formerly the Birch Bark room), a replica of the Vimy Memorial, bronze decorations by André Bizette-Lindet, wall engravings and murals. No strollers, backpacks, metal objects, food (including chewing gum) or drinks. Photography restricted. Registration required.

The George R. Robinson Bandshell was built in 1947 in memory of Lieutenant George R. Robinson. Robinson, born 1840, was Bandmaster of the 13th Battalion Royal Canadian Militia from 1869 until his death, and is credited with reforming Canadian music. His Battalion Band was known for traveling across North America. Today, the bandshell serves as a stage for summer concerts.

This Georgian-style building dates back to 1862. In 1967, it became a museum dedicated to depicting the story of Sir John Johnson and other Loyalists who settled in the area during the American Revolution. Special exhibits celebrate the bicentennial of the Williamstown Fair (the oldest agrarian fair in Canada) and the War of 1812.
